GAHANNA, Ohio, January 13, 2021 – AEP Ohio’s Neighbor to Neighbor Program is granting up to $3.5 million for eligible customers who are experiencing financial hardships. Through a partnership with AEP Ohio, an American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) company, and Dollar Energy Fund, the Neighbor to Neighbor Program supports families in need with a grant applied directly to their AEP Ohio bill, helping customers maintain their basic electric service. Eligible account holders may apply now, with applications processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is depleted.

As of 11 a.m. on Saturday morning, the AEP Texas Restoration Team had reduced the Abilene District residents still without power to number of outages resulting from the winter storm to 33, as compared to the 2,200 peak outages at 6 a.m. on Friday.

As of 9 p.m., the AEP Texas Restoration Team had reduced the number of outages in the Abilene District to approximately 200, as compared to the 2,200 peak outages at 6 a.m. this morning. Of the 200 remaining outages, 130 were located in Tuscola and 30 were in the Cross Plains area. The remainder was situated in other parts of the Abilene District.

Appalachian Power, along with Wheeling Power, filed for Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) approval of a plan to reduce restrictions on the company’s Fresh Start Fund in order to help West Virginia residential customers experiencing difficulty paying their electric bills.

Appalachian Power plans to submit an application with the Virginia State Corporation Commission seeking approval for the first three phases of the Central Virginia Transmission Reliability Project. The project involves replacing aging equipment to upgrade electric reliability for customers in five central Virginia counties.

The Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency (SMCAA) is proud to announce a donation of more than $8,000 from Indiana Michigan Power (I&M). The money will help The SMCAA address hunger issues in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties.

Kentucky Power recently awarded a $60,000 gift to the Salvation Army in Ashland. The grant from the American Electric Power (AEP) Foundation and Kentucky Power will support the Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope Program.

Kentucky Power’s THAW program – Temporary Heating Assistance in Winter – will start taking applications in January. The program runs through April and applications will be accepted at local community action agencies.
